Don’t Shoot the President!

November 22, 1963

Seamus LeSouse Rowes knew that he had one chance to prevent a terrible tragedy from happening. If he failed, the entire country would be destroyed.

He went to Dallas, Texas in order to prevent the death of President Kennedy through assassination. Using what he remembered, he invaded the building that lined the street where the motorcade was and ran to the top floor. When he got there, he noticed an angry young man named Lee Harvey Oswald standing at a window facing the street. He had a rifle in his hand and an angry look on his face.

The man said, “What are you doing here?”

“I’m here to stop you form killing the president,” Seamus snapped. “Now if you would just hand me that rifle…”

“NO!” Oswald snapped. Seamus reached out and tried to snatch the rifle, but the rifle went off anyway. “Now look at what you’ve done!” Oswald snapped.

“What I’ve done?” Seamus laughed. “Oh no, sir, you did that on your own. What are you going to say when they ask you why you tried to shoot the president?”

Lee Harvey Oswald could only stare at him in shock as the police showed up and arrested him.

Yet President Kennedy wasn’t shot that day; in fact, he had stopped the motorcade upon learning that a man named Clyde Baptiste had been shot and killed. Many people who learned about his death were very angry, as the dead man in question was an African-American and the Civil Rights was a hot button issue.

Seamus sighed, knowing that while he may have saved the president from death, he might have made things worse…

Prompt #18. A story about a historical figure.

The Scene of the Crime (StoryADay Post)

“I can’t believe this,” said Stuart as he, Mara, Irene, and Pearl went to the clubhouse. Inside, the table and chairs were flipped over, the pillows were cut open and their stuffing was spread everywhere. There was a note on the floor.

The note said, “I have Tanya. Don’t call the police or she will die.”

“What is going on here???” Irene cried out as the kids saw the mess.

“They got her,” said Pearl. “They got her and we must save her.”

The others agreed, knowing that they had to save Tanya, even if the police couldn’t help them.
